What is an Instrument Rating?
An Instrument Rating (IR) allows you to fly in Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC) — clouds, rain, fog, and low visibility — using only the aircraft's instruments for navigation. It is considered the most important additional rating a Private Pilot can earn, and it transforms you from a fair-weather flyer into an all-conditions aviator.
